From March 16 to 19, the Fallas of Gandía will take place. These are the most important days in the Fallas festival of Gandía , although the fallas for the falleros are 365 days a year.

During the central days of the month of March, the activities for which they have been preparing throughout the year take place.

One of the most delicate and exciting moments, the plantà, takes place during the night of the 15th. The Fallas artists, helped by each commission, build their monuments until the early hours of the 16th.

The Fallas festival in Gandía has many aspects that make it unique, one of them being that it is spread throughout the city. The parades, accompanied by their own band, parade through the streets in a festive manner. The falleros and falleras leave their houses in traditional dress.

But if there is one thing that stands out in the Fallas of Gandía, it is the gunpowder. Every morning, usually at 8 o'clock, the falleros and falleras go around their neighbourhood launching quite powerful rockets. It is the time to wake up the neighbourhood and continue with the party.

The "Despertà" event is highly regulated and all participants must take specific safety measures, as well as have a certificate after completing a course taught at the Museu Faller facilities.

The Federation of Fallas of Gandía organises a "macrodespertà" with a massive participation that goes through the streets of the city centre, normally the weekend before 16 March. It is one of the most spectacular events and attracts the most tourists along with the cremà and the mascletà.

From 15 to 19 March, a mascletà is fired every day in front of the railway station (sometimes it has been moved to the Grau maritime district), at 2 pm. At that moment, the Falleras Mayores of Gandía say the famous phrase: "Senyor pirotècnic pot començar la mascletà".

The baptism ceremony, for its part, is a unique and singular characteristic of the Fallas of Gandía , as it is not carried out in any other Fallera town. It is celebrated on the afternoon of March 16 and the Fallera Mayor and the mayor are the godparents of the newborn.

After the christening, the awards ceremony takes place in the town hall square.

The offering is possibly the longest event of the Fallas in Gandía and the one in which the most falleros and falleras take part. All the commissions make a tour of the streets of the city until they reach the town hall square, where the image of the Mare de Déu dels Desamparats awaits them, the virgin for whom a floral mantle is made with the bouquets carried by the participants. It usually lasts around 5 hours and takes place in the evening of the 18th.

The Fallas festival ends on the 19th. In the afternoon, the procession of San José takes place in honour of the patron saint of carpenters and of the Fallas festival.

At night, Gandía becomes a kind of continuous and generalised ritual in which every neighbourhood takes part. During the Cremà, the 46 monuments of the city are burnt. The children's monuments begin to burn, and after them, the major fallas will start to burn, leaving the winning monument for the end.
