What does the Benicarló Artichoke Festival consist of?
The program for the Benicarló Artichoke Festival includes among its highlights the Gala Dinner with the presentation of the Golden Artichoke award, the Pintxo Competition with categories of "author" and "traditional", the Gastronomic Days that extend until February or March.
There are also parallel cultural activities such as music, workshops and entertainment.

Why is the Benicarló artichoke important?
The Benicarló artichoke is the only artichoke in Spain with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
It is grown in four municipalities: Benicarló, Peñíscola , Càlig and Vinaròs.
Average annual production of between 5 and 6 million kilos, although only a part is certified with the PDO.
Characteristic features of the Benicarló artichoke : flat and compact shape, with dimple, mild flavor, ability to withstand frost, visual quality, etc.
Programming from the last edition in 2025

- From January 10th to 26th Tapas Days: bars and cafes offer tapas with artichoke.
- January 25 Gastronomic market and product fair, opening, entertainment, local stand.

- January 24 Gala dinner, presentation of the Golden Artichoke, tribute to a female farmer, etc.
- From January 27th to March 2nd Artichoke Gastronomic Days in restaurants and at the Benicarló Public Integrated Vocational Training Center.
- February 22 Popular artichoke roast in the Plaza de la Constitución with music and tastings.
