Locations of Aragonese Pyrenees
Formigal is a beautiful mountain village, located at an altitude of 1,500 metres and very close to the border with France. It is located in the beautiful Tena Valley, in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees .
Beyond the beauty of its mountains and the spectacular scenery, Formigal stands out as one of the main ski destinations in Spain. Opposite the town is the ski resort with which it shares its name, Aramon Formigal .
It has 138 skiable kilometres, spread over 97 slopes (38 black, 33 red, 19 blue and 7 green) . The resort has four access points (Sextas, Sarrios, Anayet and Portalet) , its minimum altitude is 1,501 metres and its maximum altitude is 2,251 metres .
As well as being a paradise for skiers , the resort attracts many snowboard lovers, as it has a complete snowpark, with modules for both beginners and experts. Not to mention the two cross-country skiing and snowshoeing circuits found in the Portalet area.
As an added value, Aramon allows you to purchase a joint ski pass that gives access to the Formigal and Panticosa resorts, thus increasing the number of skiable kilometres by 38 and the number of ski slopes by 45.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the Aramon Formigal resort has numerous services, such as a freeride area, snowmobiles, snowbikes, a sled circuit, nurseries, ski schools, bars and restaurants, etc. Just one kilometre from the resort, in the town of Formigal, this list of services continues to grow with shops, supermarkets, a pharmacy, ski equipment rental establishments, a bus to the slopes; as well as numerous apartment buildings for holiday rental.
When spring arrives and the snow disappears, Formigal does not lose its appeal. It becomes an important mountain tourist centre, with countless hiking and mountain biking routes, beautiful viewpoints and numerous possibilities for multi-adventure activities in the area (canyoning, via ferratas and paragliding, among many others).
Just a few kilometres from Formigal is Lacuniacha , a wildlife park that allows you to discover some of the most representative animals and plants of the Pyrenees through a pleasant walk through the forest.
Another of the main reasons to visit the Tena Valley is its beautiful mountain villages. Traditional architecture has been preserved and respected here and you can still find beautiful corners. Its churches and hermitages have a special charm, as do its squares and small streets.
But if there is one thing that stands out about this ski area in Spain, it is its wide slopes and its youthful atmosphere at any time of the year.
If you want to live a unique experience enjoying accommodation and skiing, we can help you get a ski pass so you can enjoy all the slopes in the area.
Enjoy more than 180 km of skiable area with a minimum altitude of 1.10 metres in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Formigal is the main ski resort in the entire Aragonese Pyrenees and for many years now the one chosen by young people due to its après ski in Spain thanks to its Marchica nightclub, a project that Aramón launched in 2009 and which has become established.
Mainly at weekends, but also throughout the ski season, Marchica's programme leaves no one indifferent. The area's most famous DJs play their tunes for visitors to enjoy after a hard day of skiing. Also, don't miss the festivals organised several times a season.
But it's not all partying. In summer, this green area of the Pyrenees is transformed and is ideal for family trips to the mountains.
The ski resort's infrastructure adapts to the greenery and offers beautiful panoramic views from its cable cars that children love, or bike rides through its green summer meadows, or a quiet stay in the streets of the resort where the little ones can enjoy great freedom while the older ones rest peacefully and breathe fresh, pure air with enviable views.
And don't miss the longest zipline in Spain, the Tena Valley zipline, 15 minutes from the station, which starts from the top of the town of Hoz de Jaca and runs the entire length of the Búbal reservoir, located between Biescas and Sallent de Gállego, a unique experience for everyone.
Whether you are daring or not, given the safety of the zip line, anyone can slide down that vine and admire for 10 minutes at high speed the impressive views of the swamp and the Tena Valley while feeling the wind blow through their veins. This activity is ideal for spring and summer, we highly recommend booking if you go on a weekend.
